DALÍ ÍNTIM On the occasion of the celebrations of the centenary of Salvador Dalí in Cadaqués, nothing is more suggestive than proposing an approach to the essence of the character, through a unique and unrepeatable testimony: Dalí through the lens of Joan Vehí. However, we can count many photographers throughout the artist's life, including the most prestigious and world-renowned; none of them possessed the freedom, spontaneity and even the authority that Dalí deposited in Joan Vehí so that he could pass through the house of Cadaqués and the castle of Púbol, and thus, in any occasion, immortalize in snapshots different sequences of the life of the genius, since Joan Vehí was not a stranger in the Dalí family environment, but one more of those in the house; he was the carpenter and trusted man to whom, as well as Emili Puignau or Arturo Caminada, Dalí used to show the paintings he painted and then ask them what they saw; therefore, it is understandable that watching Joan Vehí walk continuously with the carpenter's tools in his hand or the camera around his neck did not surprise anyone. And this is without a doubt the added value of the images captured by Joan Vehí and which, at the same time, make them exceptional, as they almost always show the Dalí at home, normally, without posing for the photographer, a fact that it has hardly succeeded for any other of the renowned photographers who turned the photographic sessions into a whole event to show a Dalí, but in no case the intimate Dalí, as Joan Vehí does.
This is how Joan Vehí's photographs are always a mirror that reflects the life of Salvador Dalí in intimacy: work, parties, human relations ... in short, he discovers the most authentic Dalí, which for those who they knew him and treated him, defining him as the true Dalí or the intimate Dalí.
